TransOcean has a page dedicated to employees who were killed, and will hold a Memorial Service on May 25th in remembrance those killed.
Meanwhile, no word from BP about these deaths, that I’ve been able to find. Zip, zilch, zero, nada.
Some things I wish BP knew:
At the Memorial Service for Gordon Jones, my husband was asked by Jones’ father if anything his son did was what caused this incident. This poor man just lost a son, and the thought that his son made an error that could have caused this was eating him up. Hubby was able to tell the man, with perfect honesty and truth, that no, his son did nothing wrong.
Meanwhile, the Senior Mud Engineer who was on that rig, who survived, is so wracked with guilt and emotional devastation over this, upset because he went to get some sleep after his 12-hour shift, leaving the junior Jones to oversee mud operations, that he will not be able to work in the field again. Ever.
And BP is silent.
